Description
Kotpad is a name synonymous with tribal textiles. It was the first item from Odisha that received the Geographical Indication of India tag. The Mirgan community of Kotpad is famous for their exquisite organic dyed textiles. They usually weave this textile for “Bhotada”, “Dharua” and other motifs of their neighbouring tribal communities. Traditionally kotpad sarees are woven with distinctive temple borders and fish/turtle or other tribal motifs.
Organic cotton and vegetable dyes made from the aul tree are traditionally used for weaving but gradually other variants/ Colors are also being tried using Kotpad patterns.
These textiles have a strong tribal handwriting to them and are woven in both cotton and hand spun tussar silk.
An Authentic Kotpad Saree is simply a delight and a wonder beyond words! When one thinks of tribal weaves, Kotpad Saree is bound to feature very high up on the list.

This range is extremely special as it’s the work of a Padamshree Awardee who reached out to us to collaborate and help liquidate his piling up stocks. The pandemic has hit our artisans and weavers worst as despite having unparalleled skills, they couldn’t make ends meet with markets shutting down at length.
This hence, is our endeavour to help out this respectful artisan and also bring the most authentic and exclusive Handlooms to our connoisseurs!
